Join us for an afternoon of extraordinary music celebrating cultural traditions, resilience and hope as a part of our Faculty Artist Series! Curated by Voice and Opera Lecturer and esteemed pianist Dr. Lester Green, this concert is a soulful collaboration among friends. Featuring accomplished School of Music alumni Michele Cober, Anthony D. Anderson and Jordan Johnson, alongside local D.C. favorite DeVaunté Ogden, known for her powerful interpretations across classical and soulful traditions, this program promises a moving and unforgettable musical journey.
Featuring works by celebrated composers Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Margaret Bonds, Hall Johnson and H.T. Burleigh, the concert pays homage to performance traditions passed down through cultural musical communities. The program also includes solo piano improvisations and spoken word poetry by Dr. Green, as well as a communal singing opportunity designed to unite the audience in song and spirit.
